All-natural Werrengue baskets are crafted by the Waunana and Naonama tribes of Colombia using organic, hand-processed dyes. These types of basket are extremely finely woven from split fiber palm reeds and designed to carry water. Amazing example of native art. Customarily made by the women, the baskets can take up to three months to complete and require enormous skill and artistry. Baskets are constructed from nahuala that forms the inner coiled core and chunga (black palm). Natural dyes come from many different plants and their combinations.
