Small Pyramid Pouches
These cotton mix pouches are elaborate embroidery pieces made by the indigenous people of Arequipa, Peru. Altered sewing machines are used to produce the embroidery on the fabric. Originally used to adorn their garments in festivities the locals use their designs applied to every day accessories. Made in colorful shades these are coin keychain pouches that can hold many different items. This folk art continues their tradition of embroidery and folklore dating back to the 18th century.
Each piece depicts a bird and various leaves and flowers. Each side of these pyramid pouches measures aproximately 4".
