Gourd Rattles, pair

Sold in pairs.These are hand carved gourd maracas made in Central Peru. After harvest the gourd is thoroughly dried, skinned and sanded. Then designs are carved on the gourd creating different designs. Gourd carving is one of the oldest art forms in Peru and dates back to 2,500 BC.
 
Designs include frogs, fish, turtles, butterflies, birds.
 
Sizes vary between 7" and 9" in length and 2" and 3.5" in width.
